Quarterbacks Rex Grossman and Pat White likely will share snaps relatively evenly during Saturday’s Redskins preseason game against the Buffalo Bills at FedEx Field, Coach Mike Shanahan said Thursday.

The Redskins are withholding starter Robert Griffin III from the entire preseason as he returns from knee surgery in January and Shanahan acknowledged that top backup Kirk Cousins is likely to be sidelined Saturday as well. Cousins hasn’t practiced this week after suffering a sprained foot during Monday night’s exhibition game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“I wouldn’t rule [Cousins] out but I’d say he’d be a long shot,” Shanahan said. “No, we haven’t decided on a rotation. We’re going to take a look at today’s practice and get a game plan together. But it’ll be probably pretty close to a 50-50 split.”
