Safety Brandon Meriweather participated in the Washington Redskins’ practice Thursday on a limited basis, according to Coach Mike Shanahan.

“Hopefully he’s full speed tomorrow,” Shanahan said.

Meriweather has been plagued this week by a groin injury that he suffered Monday, according to Shanahan.

Shanahan called Meriweather’s previously injured knee “fine.” The Redskins curtailed Meriweather’s workload at times during training camp and the preseason as the safety works his way back from last season’s knee injury. Meriweather played the first half of the Redskins’ preseason finale last week in Tampa while most of the team’s other starters and some key reserves were rested.
