Redskins two yards shy of record for yards allowed in two weeks of the season

The 1,023 yards that the Washington Redskins‘ defense has allowed through two weeks stand just two yards shy of the NFL record for yards given up through two games.

The Atlanta Falcons in 1967 surrendered 1,025 yards in their first two games of the season, according to Elias Sports Bureau.

This year’s Redskins and the 1978 Baltimore Colts both allowed 1,023 yards in two games.

Fourth on the list are the 1979 New York Jets, who surrendered 1,020 yards, followed by the New York Yanks, who gave up 1,019 yards in the 1951 season.

The record for yards allowed in a season belongs to the 2012 New Orleans Saints, who yielded 7,042. The Redskins are on pace to give up 8,184 yards this season.
