Rookie tight end Jordan Reed did not participate in the Washington Redskins’ practice Wednesday.

Reed suffered a bruised thigh during last Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions. The Redskins could be short-handed at tight end this week. Fred Davis missed the Detroit game because of a sprained ankle. He was a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice.

“I don’t know with Jordan,” Redskins Coach Mike Shanahan said. “I think Fred, since he was limited today, he’ll be able to do a little bit more tomorrow. Jordan did not practice so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Place kicker Kai Forbath, who has a groin injury, and linebacker Brandon Jenkins, who has an ankle injury, also missed Wednesday’s practice.

Linebacker Ryan Kerrigan participated fully in the practice after suffering a slight knee injury Sunday.

Updated, 5:52 p.m.:

Brandon Meriweather practiced fully despite being listed with a shoulder injury, and Leonard Hankerson practiced fully despite a hamstring injury.
