Immediately after the game, the Redskins didn’t yet know the extent of Bowen’s injury. Shanahan revealed on Monday that the team had learned that it was a torn PCL.
Bowen tore the PCL in his left knee during the 2011 season, but didn’t miss a game. He had surgery on the knee the following offseason and didn’t miss a game in 2012.
“Right now he’s sore,” Shanahan said. “We’ll probably know more in a couple days.”
Shanahan said that the team didn’t have an update on safety Reed Doughty, who left Sunday’s game with a concussion. Doughty as part of the league’s protocol for players that have suffered concussions will have to be cleared by an independent neurologist before he is allowed to practice or play.
