Outside linebacker Ryan Kerrigan has received credit for half of a sack that incorrectly was not attributed to him on the final play of Sunday’s win over the Chicago Bears.

With 15 seconds left in the game, Kerrigan and nose tackle Barry Cofield combined to sack Bears quarterback Josh McCown for a seven-yard loss at the Chicago 49-yard line. Kerrigan came in from McCown’s right and grabbed him around his hips, and Cofield came up the middle and then wrapped up the quarterback up high and drove him to the ground.

Originally, the game’s statistic keepers credited a full sack to Cofield.

But Redskins coaches submitted the play to the league for review and by Wednesday evening, the correction had been made on Kerrigan now has a team-high 5.5 sacks through six games. That total ranks 11th in the NFL. Cofield now has 2.5 sacks.
