Fred Davis is inactive for a third straight game for the Redskins (John McDonnell/The Washington Post)

Tight end Fred Davis is on the Washington Redskins’ inactive list for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers at FedEx Field.

It is the third straight game in which Davis is inactive for the Redskins while being apparently healthy enough to play.

The NFL’s trading deadline passed last week without the team dealing Davis. He and Coach Mike Shanahan met the following day to discuss Davis’s situation. Davis said later he hoped to play more as the season progressed but acknowledged he wasn’t optimistic that would happen, barring an injury.

Also inactive for the Redskins are quarterback Rex Grossman, running back Chris Thompson, safety Jose Gumbs, linebacker Darryl Tapp, guard Josh LeRibeus and nose tackle Chris Neild.
