Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher puts the Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson alongside Marshall Faulk and LaDainian Tomlinson as the best running backs he has seen during his 16-year NFL career.

“I’ve played with Marshall,” Fletcher said this week. “I played against LaDainian when he was rolling in San Diego. I guess it’s flip a coin between those three — LaDainian, Marshall and AP. … It’s really flip a coin with all three of those guys. They’re all great.”

The Redskins play Thursday night at Minnesota and slowing down Peterson is the top priority for Fletcher and his defensive teammates.

“He’s a tremendous running back and guys understand that when you face the Minnesota Vikings and their offense, the first and foremost number one task is stopping him, not allowing him to get going,” Fletcher said. “It’s not just the defensive line and linebackers. It’s safeties, cornerbacks, whatever. Everybody has to know where their fit is on the run game, know where their gap is, just being in tune to where you need to be and then tackling him.”
