Vanderbilt Coach James Franklin is expected to draw  interest from NFL teams with head coaching vacancies, but it is not yet clear whether he is willing to consider such offers, according to a person familiar with several clubs’ coaching searches.

Franklin, a former University of Maryland offensive coordinator who has been at Vanderbilt for three seasons, has been linked to the coaching searches of the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Browns.

He also could become a candidate for the Tennessee Titans job that became available Saturday when the team fired Mike Munchak.

“He’s definitely on the radar,” said the person with knowledge of multiple teams’ searches, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the clubs had not confirmed interest in Franklin. “We’ll see what he’s going to do but it’s a little too soon to know.”

Redskins General Manager Bruce Allen declined to say Thursday during a brief interview at Redskins Park whether the team has college coaches under consideration.

There also has been speculation identifying Franklin as a candidate at Penn State.
