Former Washington Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan interviewed for the Miami Dolphins’ vacant offensive coordinator job.

The Dolphins announced Friday that they’d interviewed Shanahan and Philadelphia Eagles quarterbacks coach Bill Lazor, a former Redskins assistant.

Miami is seeking a replacement for Mike Sherman, who was fired this week.

Shanahan served as the Redskins’ offensive coordinator for his father, Mike. He was fired along with Mike Shanahan and much of the team’s coaching staff following a 3-13 season. Kyle Shanahan formerly was the offensive coordinator of the Houston Texans.

He helped Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III become the NFL’s offensive rookie of the year last season. But Griffin’s relationship with both Shanahans came under intense scrutiny this season while the quarterback failed to duplicate his rookie-year exploits. He was shut down by Mike Shanahan with three games left and the Redskins finished the season with eight straight losses.
