The Redskins will enter free agency with $18,580,869 in salary cap room, according to the NFL.
That figure takes into account the $11.455 million that Washington has designated to outside linebacker Brian Orakpo, whom they retained last week by using the franchise player tag.
If the Redskins were to work out a long-term deal, which would carry a lower cap number, then that $18.58 million figure would change. Washington also could create more cap room by restructuring contracts or making roster cuts.
Washington is expected to place a heavy emphasis on upgrading their secondary in free agency this afternoon, and in the coming days. The Redskins also have interest in acquiring help at wide receiver and along the offensive line.
