The Washington Redskins on Thursday announced the signing of eight college free agents, including two area players, Maryland wide receiver Levern Jacobs and Old Dominion wide receiver Zach Pascal.

Jacobs (5-feet-11, 185 pounds) had his best year in 2013, when he recorded 47 catches for 640 yards. Last season, he had 41 catches for 439 yards and two touchdowns.

Pascal (6-2, 219) recorded a school-record 233 receptions for 3,184 yards and 30 touchdowns.

The others players signed were: Charlotte defensive lineman Brandon Banks (6-3, 287); Georgia guard Tyler Catalina (6-6, 314); Texas Tech defensive lineman Ondre Pipkins (6-3, 325); Louisville wide receiver James Quick (6-0, 186); Kansas safety Fish Smithson (5-11, 190); and Michigan guard Kyle Kalis (6-4, 308).

For his career, Quick recorded 126 receptions for 2,032 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Redskins roster stands at 90 players, including their 10 draft picks and following the Tuesday release of four players, including 2016 seventh-round pick Steven Daniels. Daniels, an inside linebacker, spent the year on injured reserve recovering from shoulder surgery.

The team will hold its three-day rookie minicamp from May 12-14.
