One way or another, Snowquester is happening. Federal workers have the day off, school systems across the area are closed but many points of interest -- museums, bars, restaurants -- are open for business. We'll update this list of openings, closings and other snow day miscellany, whether the white stuff actually begins to accumulate or not.

• The opening night events for the DC Independent Film Festival are postponed.

• Ex-Cops have cancelled tonight's concert at the Rock and Roll Hotel. ("They're coming from Cleveland, where there's real snow," says Rock and Roll Hotel co-owner Fritz Wood.) The show will be rescheduled, and all tickets will be valid for the new date. Refunds are available at the place of purchase.

• Tonight's Peter Bradley Adams concert at Jammin Java has been postponed. The rescheduled date will be announced soon, the club says, and tickets will be valid for the makeup show.

• The National Zoo is CLOSED but all other Smithsonian museums are OPEN.

• Strathmore is CLOSED and today's performances have either been cancelled or postponed.

• The Phillips Collection is CLOSED.

• The National Gallery of Art is CLOSED.

• National Museum of Women in the Arts is CLOSED.


• Drinks are $1 off at The Pug (opening at 1 p.m.) if there's less than six inches of snow on the ground on H Street NE. More than six inches but less than a foot, drinks are $2 off. And if there's more than a foot [Ed. note: Ha.] drinks are $3 off. The caveat: No drink price will go below $2.

Lou's City Bar is OPEN with half-price draft beers all day.

Meridian Pint is OPEN EARLY for brunch.

• Both Tortilla Coast locations are OPEN with happy hour prices all day.

• Kangaroo Boxing Club is OPEN. Full menu available at 11 a.m.

DC Reynolds will have buy-one, get-one happy hour from 11 a.m to 9 p.m.

Cobalt is open at noon with bottomless mimosas and happy hour till 9 p.m.

Granville Moore's will open at noon for beer and mussels.

Liberty Tavern is open, and happy hour begins at 2 p.m.

Spider Kelly's will open early at 3 p.m.

The Limerick Pub is offering snow-day happy hour all day, including $3.50 bloody marys. After opening at 11 a.m., the Limerick Pub decided to CLOSE at 1 p.m.

Scion is open and offering happy hour all day, including half-price drafts and $5 glasses of wine.


Yes, there will be a snowball fight in Dupont Circle at 4 p.m. Prospects for a Dupont Circle snowball fight have taken a turn for the worse. The event has been pushed back to 8 p.m. but "if the final wave doesn't pan out by around 6, we're calling it a day!"

There's no Dupont Circle snowball fight, because there's no snow.

Coastal Flats in Fairfax is hosting a snowman-building contest from noon to 2 p.m. Get there early before all the good snow is gone.
