Capital Weather Gang's latest Brood II coverage map shows the most cicada activity in areas like Burke, Dale City and points south and west. But the chorusing apparently stops just south of the Capital Beltway. That means -- except for a small pocket in upper Northwest and into Silver Spring -- the District and most of the close-in suburbs remain cicada-free.
"If you have not yet seen cicadas where you live, there is a good chance that Brood II has missed your area," writes CWG's Kevin Ambrose. "Don’t worry, Brood X will probably get you in 2021."
If you can't wait that long to make your own cicada cocktail, you're probably better off getting in the car and heading west along I-66 or south along I-95.
