D.C. area fundraisers for Oklahoma tornado victims

This post has been updated.

You can help victims of the deadly tornado that swept through Oklahoma on Monday by making a donation to the American Red Cross or other established charities working in the disaster area.

We'll also be rounding up local efforts to raise funds for cleanup and victim aid. Know of any? Let us know and we'll update this post.

• On Thursday, Union Pub will host a fundraiser organized by the Oklahoma State Society, Oklahoma State University D.C. alumni, University of Oklahoma alumni, and Tulsa University alumni. There is a $20 suggested donation at the door, and Union Pub will donate 15 percent of its sales to the Red Cross in Oklahoma.

• The Georgetown outpost of the chic Los Angeles cupcakery Sprinkles announced today that 100 percent of the proceeds from the store's Red Cross Red Velvet cupcakes will be donated to the disaster relief agency's Oklahoma chapters to help with tornado relief efforts. Sprinkles is located at 3015 M St. NW.
