Virgin Mobile FreeFest, the annual mega-festival that lures pretty much every major indie artist, of-the-moment rapper and electronic act to Merriweather Post Pavilion, will take place on Sept. 21 this year, the festival's organizers announced.

Who will be performing at this year's FreeFest? While the lineup hasn't been announced yet, we've enlisted The Post's unofficial FreeFest prognosticator David Malitz to read the tea leaves (okay, basically bands' tour schedules) and guess which rockers, electronic acts and rappers might make the bill:

100% locks
Vampire Weekend
Icona Pop
Washed Out

Avett Brothers
Kendrick Lamar
Calvin Harris
2 Chainz

And a whole bunch of EDM, obviously.

What do you think: Could Kings of Leon -- who have a curious gap in their touring schedule -- make an appearance? Or Kanye, who has a penchant for making random appearances at indie-centric fests? Feel free to leave your own wild and unsubstantiated guesses in the comments.

Details on how and when to get (free!) tickets have not been announced. In previous years, a presale for FreeFest's social media followers has preceded a general claim period, which can be a bit of a circus for the unprepared. Priced options for those who don't want to refresh their browsers for hours just to get a free ticket have also been available.
