Ticketwatch: The first session of the Black Squirrel's learn-to-blend-your-own-sour-beer class is sold out, but some tickets remain for Thursday's second session. There are also some tickets left for DC Brau's Wednesday night crab feast.

Tuesday highlights: Tonight's main event is the Summer Ale Tasting at Gordon Biersch downtown. Mad Fox, DC Brau, Rock Bottom and Gordon Biersch are among the nine local breweries pouring samples of their seasonal beers. Admission is $15, which includes all beer samples and a glass; pub snacks will be available for purchase.

Falls Church's Mad Fox Brewing Company announced yesterday that it will open a tap room in Glover Park in 2014. Washingtonians who want to get a preview of the beers should head to Mad Fox Night at Smoke and Barrel in Adams Morgan. Twelve brews, including the delicious Praha Czech Pils and Orange Whip IPA, will be available. The draw is the debut of the Ambassador, a low-alcohol IPA created by Smoke and Barrel bartender Erich Streckfuss and brewed at Mad Fox.

Most of this evening's other events are dedicated to individual states or breweries: The Maine Beer Co. will be pouring nine of its beers at ChurchKey; Central Virginia breweries, including Devils Backbone and Starr Hill, are featured at Penn Social; eight North Carolina breweries will be on tap at the Black Squirrel; and Pizzeria Paradiso pits the beers of Washington D.C. against Washington state in Dupont, and splits its taps between Maryland and Virginia beers in Georgetown.
