Furloughed? Get free tickets to see Big Boi, Take 6 or Alice Russell at the Howard

Last night, we wrote about the 9:30 Club's buy-one, get-one-free ticket deal. Now the Howard Theatre is going one better: Government employees can receive free admission to every concert through Saturday when they show a valid ID at the box office.

The lineup includes Big Boi of Outkast with Killa Mike, Fishawk and Renegade tonight; two shows by vocal group Take 6 on Friday (7:30 and 10:30 p.m.); and funk soul singer Alice Russell on Saturday.

A government ID is also good for half-price tickets to Sunday's concert with Rufus and Sly Stone.

Space is obviously limited: Once the venue is full, no more tickets will be given away, so arrive on the early side. It's a good chance to get to know some of the restaurants and bars within walking distance of the Howard. Thirsty? Shaw's Tavern is offering those with government ID $2 draft beers and wine from 5 p.m. to close.
