Happy National Taco Vodka Day

It seems like the marketing minds at Big Taco and Big Vodka could have gotten together to work this out ahead of time, but here we are on Oct. 4, which is both National Taco Day and National Vodka Day. Never forget.

The vodka part of this discussion is easy. If you want vodka in this town, you go to Russia House, grab a marble-topped table and order some crazy brand you've never heard of -- Bogorodskaya, Kalashnakov or Khortytsa. Your neighbors at the next table might work at an embassy, or they might play for the Washington Capitals.

If you want to get crazy, you head for the younger (and Ovi-approved) Mari Vanna, which hosts Russian-language karaoke on its third floor. Order a round of the house-infused vodka shots: cucumber and dill, sea buckthorn and the fiery horseradish are all recommended.

So drink up and celebrate the best hybrid holiday this side of Thanksgivukkah with some of our favorite local tacos.
