April 4: Fat Shorty’s in Clarendon opens with house-made mumbo on every table. The restaurant closes in October.

April 5: “Mumbo Sauce,” a companion exhibition to the Corcoran’s “Pump Me Up” exhibition about D.C. culture in the 80s, opens. It is organized by the gallery Contemporary Wing.

Sept. 3: Select Brands, a Chicago company, successfully defends its trademark against Capital City Mumbo Sauce, a bottled version of the condiment in D.C.

Dec. 10: Right Proper Brewing Company opens with a house-made mumbo to accompany “chicken parts” on its menu.
