Jason Aldean is playing Nationals Park this summer (and so is Billy Joel)

Several members of the D.C. media arereporting the Nationals will make a 'major concert' announcement at Nationals Park Thursday morning. Deputy mayor Victor Hoskins and Nationals GM Mike Rizzo are expected to be in attendance. Who could it be? Hold that thought.

Earlier this month, country star Jason Aldean confirmed his ballpark-heavy "Burn It Down" tour will visit Nationals Park in the summer of 2014. The Nationals have also confirmed Aldean's appearance, but a date for the show has not been announced. Tickets go on sale Jan. 24. That's Friday, the day following the team's announcement. Hmm.

Is it possible the Nats have a concert other than Aldean to announce? Sure, but given One Direction is already playing the park in August, and the time required to convert the outfield to a concert venue and back to a playable outfield for one standalone concert, let alone two or three, during the 81-game home regular season, it's improbable.

Here's Aldean's announcement. We'll update this when Aldean's date is confirmed -- or if the 'major concert' is somebody other than Aldean.

Update: Surprise! Thursday's announcement was Billy Joel, who will play Nats Park on July 26.

Update: Jason Aldean will perform at Nationals Park on July 25.
