Poppabox: Bibimbap and waffles in Foggy Bottom

Foggy Bottom has a new fast-casual option: Poppabox, an Asian-fusion takeout cafe that also serves waffles and La Colombe coffee opened Monday at 1928 I Street NW.

Poppabox's menu is all over the map, with teriyaki, bibimbap, sushi, wraps and the aforementioned waffles. But as the restaurant's name suggests, everything is cutely and efficiently packaged, and easily transportable back to the office.

Our spicy pork deluxe box, which came with four pieces of tempura, spicy tuna salad rolls, California rolls, and a cucumber egg salad, was serviceable; our waffle BLT was incredibly soggy.

Coffee-wise, the La Colombe brew could be a huge draw for Poppabox, as the coffee's fans are numerous and devoted. You'll also find Mighty Leaf tea and an array of pre-packaged drinks and snacks. There's seating for about 20. Menu below.
