Rock group Portugal. The Man will continue its campaign to help save Sumatran tigers with a free concert at the National Zoo on May 12. The stripped-down concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Register for tickets through EventBrite.

The band recently teamed up with the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute and National Zoo to start the Endangered Song Project. Portugal. The Man released a song, “Sumatran Tigers," on 400 polycarbonate records, which are designed to stop working after a certain number of spins. Why 400? Only 400 Sumatran tigers are left in the wild.

The band wants the song to be reproduced digitally and shared, and the Zoo has created a Web site to help keep track of where the song has been shared. Below is one reproduction we found on Soundcloud:
