GRK, fast-casual Greek, to open in Dupont July 18

The Dupont lunchtime crowd will soon have another option for cheap eats: GRK, a fast-casual Greek import from New York, will open at 1140 19th St. NW on July 18.

GRK applies a variation on the Chipotle model to Greek cuisine, giving guests the choice between a "Yeero" (the phonetic spelling of a gyro), and a plate. You'll get the choice between chicken, pork, portobello mushrooms or lamb and beef; toppings include three types of tzatziki and, for the plates, rice, slaw or chips. There are salads, sides, and fresh or frozen Greek yogurt with 16 toppings, including figs and sweet cherry preserves. You can also get beer or wine, in addition to Greek sodas.

The restaurant will have patio seating and stay open until 3 a.m. on weekends. This first D.C. location will soon be followed by others: GRK plans to expand to eight other locations over the next few years.

GRK joins a long list of all-caps, letter-heavy restaurants within walking distance of one another downtown: STK, GBD, DGS, BTS, BGR and BLT Steak. Oh, and WTF. (Because, seriously, wtf is with all of these names?) Regardless: LKNG FWD to CHKNG out this RSTRNT, for sure.
