- The wooden bar top and the long communal tables are made from wood reclaimed from southern Maryland tobacco barns. In the small back room, which can be rented out for private events, the tables are made from a juniper tree that stood on Utah Avenue NW until it was felled during the 2012 Derecho.
- Paintings in the dining room are by Leda Black, who has a studio on the Monroe Street Market's Arts Walk. Owner John Andrade says works by different artists from the Arts Walk will be featured every three months.
- Those who are tethered to their smartphones will love that every booth and almost every bar stool have access to USB ports and electrical outlets, making charging easy. (Andrade says Meridian Pint's bartenders are asked "all the time" if they can charge customers' phones at outlets behind the bar.)
- There are 48 seats, but the biggest draw might be the bar stools. When Brookland Pint's huge windows facing the Arts Walk fold open, they leave a wide counter where you can rest a drink while looking into the bar – and watching the four TVs over it.
- Two dozen taps pour a variety of beers, from DC Brau's On the Wings of Armageddon double IPA to the Bruery's Tart of Darkness sour stout. Expect to pay $6 to $9 for full pours of most drafts, though you can also order four-ounce tasters of any beer for a couple of bucks.
- The beer to get is No Sleep 'Til Brookland, a bitter, dry-hopped IPA brewed exclusively for Brookland Pint by Franklin's Restaurant and Brewpub in Hyattsville.
- When you walk in the front door, it's hard to miss the marble-fronted vault full of hard-to-find bottles, such as Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout. These are the stars of the bottle list, which includes dozens more options.
- Opening night will feature some very special beers, including Firestone Walker's Stickee Monkey Belgian quadruple ale, the 2012 Oxbow Oxtoberfest (a barrel aged saison, not an Oktoberfest), Alesmith Speedway Stout, the 2012 Firestone Walker Double Double Barrel Ale barleywine, and a very rare keg of the Firestone Walker Parabajava, a version of the acclaimed Parabola Russian imperial stout infused with coffee.
- As at Meridian Pint, the menu has plenty of options for those who don't eat meat: A third of the entrees are vegetarian and vegan. (The full menu was created by chef Rebecca Hassell, who served as a sous chef at Estadio and Masa 14.)
- Even though Andrade says brunch service won't start for "a couple weeks," the menu is below. Breakfast choices include steak and eggs, Puerto Rican mofongo and house burgers.
