Tuscadero, the 1990s D.C. pop-punk band known for candy-sweet songs like "Nancy Drew" and "Mt. Pleasant," is reuniting for a pair of concerts at Galaxy Hut on Dec. 28 and 29. Tickets went on sale this morning through Teen-Beat Records, and only 60 will be available per night.
The group split in 1999 after three albums, and has since only reunited for two shows: The 20th anniversary of the Teen Beat label, which released the band's first two albums, back in 2005; and the 20th anniversary of the Black Cat in 2013.
But this reappearance isn't about jumping on the 1990s reunion bandwagon: It's much more serious than that. Over the summer, one-time Teen Beat Records intern Nancy Marion was diagnosed with acute leukemia, and will require a bone marrow transplant, which isn't cheap. All proceeds from the $10 ticket sales will go directly to Marion's medical care.
Cotton Candy, which features former Unrest singer Mark Robinson and his wife Evelyn Hurley, formerly of Blast Off Country Style, will open both shows.
