The Adams Morgan whiskey bar is throwing open its vaults to raise money for the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes, an organization that helps severely wounded veterans and their families. A whiskey tasting in the basement speakeasy features 10 incredibly rare bourbons and ryes, including a 1940s Old Crow Straight Rye, a 1960s Virginia Gentleman, and a 2005 George T Stagg. Tickets are $115, with 100 percent of sales benefiting the Coalition's holiday gift program. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance through Eventbrite.
Those who want to help without spending $115 can head to the rooftop terrace between 5 and 7:30 p.m., where the bar will have a special happy hour menu with discounted bourbon, whiskey flights, beers, cocktails, wines by the glass, and snacks. All proceeds from the items on the special menu will be donated to the Coalition to Salute America's Heroes.
