Original post, June 17: Washington is already home to a plethora of burger joints with some big-name connections, whether it be Bobby Flay's Bobby's Burger Palace, Danny Meyer's Shake Shack or Spike Mendelsohn's Good Stuff Eatery. But we're about to get even more Hollywood.
Wahlburgers -- the five-year-old chain founded by the brothers Wahlberg (actors Mark and Donnie and chef Paul) -- has announced that is officially coming to the nation's capital later this year.
The restaurant is moving into 6,500 square feet at One Dupont Circle. In addition to the eponymous burgers, Boston-based Wahlburgers also offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, frappes and dishes such as sloppy Joes and mac and cheese inspired by the brothers' mom, Alma.
The Dupont shop is the first of several planned locations in the Washington area. In addition to its home state, Wahlburgers also operates in Orlando, Toronto and New York, with pending openings in Las Vegas and Philadelphia.
In the meantime, you can binge-watch the five available seasons of the A&E series "Wahlburgers," which, of course, follows the family and its growing restaurant business. Season 6, timely enough, premieres July 6 at 10 p.m.
