The ever-fluid Washington-area dining scene continued its flurry of activity in February. Here are the month’s restaurant openings and closings.


Alta Strada: Michael Schlow's Italian restaurant in City Vista is joined by a new sibling in Fairfax's Mosaic District. 2911 District Ave., #150, Fairfax.

Boulangerie Christophe: The bakery and restaurant in Georgetown takes its inspiration from southern France. 1422 Wisconsin Ave. NW.

Colada Shop: The Cuban cafe's second location is in the happening 14th Street NW corridor. 1405 T St. NW.

La Colombe: The Philadelphia-based coffee shop continues to expand its D.C. portfolio, this time near Farragut Square. 1710 I St. NW.

Little Dipper Hot Pot House: The Asian restaurant has expanded to a second location in Rockville Town Square. 101 Gibbs St., Suite A, Rockville.

Petite Loulou: Executive chef and co-owner Stefano Frigerio, a Fiola veteran, opened a Parisian-style creperie, cafe and bakery in Purcellville. 713 E. Main St., Purcellville.

So Korean BBQ: Located in Centreville, it's a sister restaurant to Annandale's popular Kogiya. 5728 Pickwick Rd., Centreville.

Swing's Coffee: The local roaster's new downtown location is close to the White House and a few blocks from its other G Street NW location that's under renovation. 640 14th St. NW.

Sylvan Cafe and Bakery: The Bloomingdale spot from the owners of nearby Bacio Pizzeria takes over the space formerly occupied by Grassroots Gourmet. 104 Rhode Island Ave. NW.

Tiger Fork: The Hong Kong-accented restaurant in Blagden Alley comes from the team behind the Fainting Goat. 922 N St. NW.


Chao Ku: The casual Chinese spot lasted less than a year in Shaw.

Clyde's Tysons: The site is being redeveloped.

Quarry House Tavern: The temporary location of the Silver Spring dive has closed in preparation for a move back to its original spot, which was damaged in a fire almost two years ago.

Table: Another Shaw casualty, this restaurant had a run of about four years.

Water & Wall: Tim Ma shuttered his Arlington restaurant to focus on his other endeavors, including Kyirisan and Ten Tigers Parlour.

Zengo: Richard Sandoval's Asian fusion restaurant had been in Chinatown for more than 10 years.
