Of all the joys of summer, there’s one pastime that stands out among the rest: outdoor movie screenings. There's just something special about catching a flick underneath the stars, wrapped in a blanket or cuddled up with family and friends.

This season's lineup includes something for everyone. A perfect fit for families with children, several evenings include screenings of such animated films as “Moana” and “The Lego Batman Movie.” Moviegoers can also catch the live-action version of “Beauty and the Beast” and “Hidden Figures.” Here's a sampling of the free screenings in the area. Screenings are subject to change.
