Things that only happen at bars in Washington: Wonks gathering at 9:30 a.m. on a Thursday to down cocktails while watching James B. Comey testify before a Senate committee. State of the Union drinking games complete with Jell-O shots.

And now we can add “You're Fired!” happy hours to the list. After word spread that President Trump had dismissed chief strategist Stephen K. Bannon, a restaurant in Washington's Shaw neighborhood, the Bird, announced on Twitter that all happy hour drinks would cost $4 from 4 to 7 p.m. — and that they'll repeat the same special “every time Trump fires a White House official.”

The Bird's happy hour is already a good deal, with $4 craft beers, $6 wines (including a “rosé of the day”) and $8 house cocktails. This new offer just makes it a better place to drown your sorrows, or raise a glass in celebration, depending on where you stand.
