Alexander Semenov is a man of many talents and ambitions. He is the head of the divers’ team at Moscow State University’s White Sea Biological Station. But beyond that, he is a marine biologist, explorer and underwater photographer. Semenov leads his diving team in plumbing the ocean’s depths in harsh conditions to conduct research projects on the world’s marine life. The result of his work is a continually growing catalog of stunning images of sea creatures not commonly seen anywhere else on earth. Semenov explains the motivation behind his work, “My own goal is to study underwater life through camera lenses and to boost people’s interest in marine biology.” To that end, he shares his photos on social media and in public lectures, exhibitions and media events.
