Pop star Justin Bieber has bought a ticket to the one place his fans can’t catch him — well, most of them, anyway. The teen idol has bought a ticket to space from Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic.
The Los Angeles Times reports that The Biebs, as he has come to be known, bought a ticket along with his manager Scooter Braun to escape, albeit briefly, the bonds of Earth’s gravity.
Beiber, in a reply to Branson’s tweet, appealed to the imagination of his Beliebers, er, fans, by floating the idea of doing a concert in space:
And Braun? Well, he made a call out to his “momma”:
If your love for the pop star is so strong that you want to book a seat alongside him, be prepared to put your money where your … heart throbs (?). Tickets for a seat on a Virgin Galactic SpaceShipTwo flight run $250,000 a pop.
And you’ll also have to wait, since Virgin Galactic’s spacecraft are still in testing, although they hope to launch crewed flights by the end of year, reports Space.com. The company has snagged some big names among its more than 500 passengers, including Angelina Jolie, Ashton Kutcher and Leonardo DiCaprio.
Who knows, perhaps Bieber will follow in DiCaprio’s shoes and auction off a seat with him on the flight. Don’t expect it to be a bargain, though: DiCaprio’s auction closed at $1.5 million in May.
