Parisians offering #PorteOuverte (open door) to people stranded in wake of attacks

Parisians’ rallying to offer strangers refuge in the midst of the deadly shooting attacks unfolding around central Paris has provided some comfort in the face of abject horror.

Using the hashtag #PorteOuverte, meaning open door, Parisians began tweeting their personal addresses for anyone nearby who needed shelter. People are being urged to get off the streets, as police respond Friday night to shootings, explosions and a hostage situation at various locations.

Many online have noted that those people opening their homes are affirming the better side of humanity.
