Two men armed with guns robbed Island Dyes, a store that sells smoking paraphernalia in the 300 block of H Street NE, at about 2:45 p.m. Thursday, according to D.C. police.

Police spokesman Paul Metcalf said the men were wearing all black and one was wearing a black mask. He said the men were between 25 and 30 years old.

Glen Schow, the owner of Island Dyes, said one employee was inside the business during the robbery. The robbers demanded money and the employee handed them cash. No merchandise was taken.

The robbery comes about a week after marijuana was legalized in the city. Schow said he didn’t think the shop was targeted because of the new law, but noted that business has been about three times busier than normal since the new drug laws went into effect.
