The honeymoon period ended early for a newly-wed couple en route to Costa Rica from Atlanta.

In mid-air, a boozy groom got into a drunken spat with his bride, forcing Delta Air Lines flight 901 to make an emergency landing on the island of Grand Cayman last weekend, Reuters reported.

Royal Cayman Islands Chief Inspector Raymond Christian said the husband, a U.S. citizen, was removed from the flight by Cayman Islands police and held in custody on a charge of drunk and disorderly conduct. Furthermore, he could be looking at additional charges thanks to international air law.

His wife stayed onboard the flight headed for San Jose, Costa Rica.
