Coming to the big screen: Ian Ziering fends off a flying shark in “Sharknado 2.” (Syfy/NBCUniversal via Reuters)

“Sharknado” is the franchise that just won’t die.

Let’s take a minute to ponder that: The television movie about a tornado filled with sharks starring a former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant was so much of a hit that it warranted a sequel called “Sharknado 2: The Second One.”

And now, good folks, just in case witnessing “The Second One” from the comfort of your sofa where you can DVR it and fast-forward through the commercials wasn’t enough, you can buy a ticket and witness it in all its ignominious B-movie glory on the big screen for one day only!

The Los Angeles Times reported the hit Syfy movie Americans love to ridicule — but still watch — will be playing in 400 theaters come Aug. 21. Fathom Events has a full list of the theaters where it will be available. (D.C. residents are out of luck, but they can go to Rockville and Alexandria to see it.) This is what your en masse viewing hath wrought: big screen distribution and a new fragrance by “Sharknado” star Tara Reid called “Shark.”

Get your popcorn ready, we guess?
