“I’m not here to try & encourage people/young girls to look like me or to think this is the way they should look,” Jenner tweeted after the news broke. “I want to encourage people/young girls like me to be YOURSELF & not be afraid to experiment w your look. [triple heart emoticon]”
Further, Jenner said her lips were au naturel.
“I’m like, ‘Stop talking about my lips,’” Kylie told Britain’s Grazia Daily last month. “I haven’t had plastic surgery. I’ve never been under the knife. People flashback to pictures of me when I was 12 and say ‘Kylie’s so different’ but how can I look the same from 12-18?”
Now, in a historic reversal, Jenner, 17, has said her lips are enhanced after all. She will admit as much on an upcoming episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.”
“I have temporary lip fillers,” Jenner said in a promotional clip posted by E!. “It’s just an insecurity of mine and it’s what I wanted to do.”
She added: “I’m just not ready to talk to reporters about my lips yet because everyone always picks us apart.”
Jenner’s admission, while a nightmare for anyone worried about young women with body-image issues, actually contained a bold Clintonian hedge: Lip fillers — that is, lip injections of substances sold under brand names such as Juvederm and Restylane — don’t really count as “going under the knife.”
“I want to admit to the lips, but people are so quick to judge me on everything,” Jenner said. “I might have tiptoed around the truth, but I didn’t lie.”
The confession was old news to plastic surgeons, who may charge more than $500 for such injections, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. The injections last more than a year.
“That is not just lipstick,” certified plastic surgeon Michael Salzhauer told Inquisitr last year. “Her lips look three times as wide as they did in the ‘before’ pictures.”
Morover, one plastic surgeon interviewed at Perez Hilton last year raised questions about the legality of performing lip injections on a minor.
“I wouldn’t do it unless they were 18-years-old,” David Alessi, a plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills, Calif., told the Web site. “It is illegal to treat a minor without parental permission unless they are legally emancipated.”
On social media, it was old news too.
“Kylie Jenner admitted she got lip fillers,” one Twitter user wrote. “In other less obvious news, water is wet and the sky is blue.”
And, according to another preview clip in which half-sister Khloe Kardashian busted Kylie on the lip front, it was old news to her family, too.
“Kylie decided to plump her lips,” Khloe said. “I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I think if you’ve done something though, it is right to cop up to it.”
