Thanks to a packaging defect, a poisonous household product is easy for kids to access.

About 5.4 million bottles of Liquid Plumr products have been recalled as their child-resistant bottle caps are not working as intended, Clorox announced on July 14. Children can easily remove the tops of these recalled bottles.

Included are Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Foaming Clog Fighter, Liquid Plumr Pro-Strength Urgent Clear and Liquid Plumr Industrial Strength Urgent Clear. Bottles with the UPC code specified by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission sold from January 2012 through May 2016 are included.

No injuries have been reported, but the CPSC is available for any incident or injury reports. They have received eight reports of the caps not properly functioning and 221 reports of the bottles leaking.

You don’t even have to swallow drain cleaner to experience its hazardous effects, which can include severe abdominal, throat and mouth pain, difficulty breathing, severe tissue damage and vomiting. The drain cleaner can cause loss of vision if it touches the eyes or cause throat swelling if inhaled.

The household product’s painful effects when mishandled have long been knownNine UPS workers were injured in 2014 handling an Amazon package with leaky drain cleaner, Reuters reported last month.
