As the Houston area readies for more predicted rain and gushing floodwaters in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the country’s fourth largest city and the surrounding region is bracing for a tough week.
But on Sunday afternoon, one viral video circulating the Web offered a little levity in the midst of evacuation orders and water damage.
Viviana Saldana posted three short clips to her Facebook page. The images caught a barrel-chested, shirtless man Superman-diving into the brown murky water flooding a living room.
In the final clip — which has been viewed more than 11 million times — the man drops to his knees in the floodwater, puts his hands in, and yanks out a fish that apparently rode in on the swell.
“Why go out looking for food when the food is coming to our living room?” Saldana wrote on Facebook, a post that had nearly half a million shares and 32,000 comments as of Monday morning. “Y’all help me get this to the news lmao.”
In an interview with Circa.com, Saldana said the man in the video was her father, Saul. When the family home started flooding, he tried to make “the best out of a scary situation.”
“It started with only water coming in through the garage to then coming in through any opening,” Saldana told Circa.com. “We were staying on the second floor and thankfully the water had not gotten any higher than knee deep.”

As the clips began burning up the Internet, Houstonians and others trying to deal with the flood latched onto the clips as a source of much-needed comic relief.
