Ebola could be hitting America’s streets soon. Not the virus, but the drug.

Police in Toms River, N.J. said they seized more than 600 packets of heroin stamped with the brand name “Ebola” while executing a search warrant on Monday. Authorities arrested Barnabas Davis, 47, and charged him with possession and intent to distribute heroin and crack cocaine, according to a police statement. He’s being held in the Ocean County Jail on $300,000 bail.

According to police, the heroin packets were labeled with trademarks that included “Ebola.”

This actually wouldn’t be the first time a deadly virus and public health crisis has been co-opted by the illegal street drug trade. Remember the bird flu outbreaks? Yeah, “Bird Flu” was also the name of a 2007 album and song (very NSFW) by rapper Gucci Mane. “I got bird flu shawty, sellin’ bird’s my business,” he rapped. Bird means cocaine, in this context.
