Nationals vs. Cardinals discussion thread: Game 132

Jordan Zimmermann H. Rumph Jr/AP

The Nationals won their third straight game in convincing fashion, outscoring the Marlins and Cardinals 26-5 during that stretch. Edwin Jackson and Gio Gonzalez pitched a combined 17 innings, allowing one run, unearned, and striking out 18 batters over the pas two games. Now, the Nationals turn to Jordan Zimmermann (9-8, 2.63 ERA). August was Zimmermann’s worst month of the season: five starters, 3-2 record, 4.39 ERA with 31 hits over 26 2/3 innings. The right-hander has faced the Cardinals three times in his career, lost twice and has a 8.62 ERA, his second-worst against any opponent.

The Cardinals are in the midst of a four-game losing streak and send their best pitcher, right-hander Kyle Lohse (14-2, 2.64 ERA), to the mound. The game will not be on MASN as usual; it’ll be broadcast by FOX as its Sunday afternoon showing.

As always, talk about the baseball here.
