Nationals vs. Cubs discussion thread: Game 134

Darryl Webb/Reuters

The Chicago Cubs are out of contention but could still play the role of spoiler in the opening game of a four-game series against the Washington Nationals. The Nationals are 52-29 this season against teams under .500. Left-hander Ross Detwiler (8-6, 3.32 ERA), who has been pushed deeper into game in the second half of the season, takes the mound for the Nationals in only his third start against the Cubs in his career. He went 4-2 with a 3.53 ERA in six starts in August. Right-hander Jeff Samardzija (8-12, 4.03 ERA) starts for the Cubs. As always, talk about the game here.
