Friday marks the opening game of a key series in Atlanta. The Braves have won 19 straight games started by right-hander Kris Medlen (8-1, 1.64 ERA), including eight this season. Ross Detwiler (9-6, 3.23 ERA) is allowing opponents to hit .230 with runners in scoring position. The Braves are dead last in the majors with a .231 average with runners in scoring position. With a win tonight, Detwiler would become the fourth Nationals starter with double digit wins; Jackson and Detwiler both stand at nine wins. The Nationals carry a 8 1/2 game lead into Friday’s game and can leave Sunday night with nothing less than a 5 1/2 game lead. As always, talk about the game here.
