Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia underwent an MRI on his left shoulder Monday after lasting just two innings in Game 2 and it appears he will be placed on the disabled list.

According to Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Garcia will be removed from the roster and replaced before Game 3 in Washington Wednesday. Such a move would allow the Cardinals to add another reliever to the mix for the remainder of this series.

Garcia’s struggles were apparent throughout his brief appearance, during which he threw 51 pitches only 29 for strikes. Despite his growing uneasiness, Garcia allowed just one run and two hits to the 11 batters he faced.
