Ross Detwiler will try to lift the Nationals to a four-game sweep over the Reds, which would be an impressive feat even if they had not entered the series on a 3-9 skid. The Nationals will head to Atlanta after today’s game. If the Braves lose and the Nationals win, they’ll only be 1 ½ games behind Atlanta in the NL East. Remember when everyone kept saying it’s still early? They were right.

The Nationals will face a challenge against rookie lefty Tony Cingrani, who played with Anthony Rendon at Rice for two years. He has 17 strikeouts with only three walks over 12 innings in two starts this year, and he struck out 11.8 batters per nine innings during his three-year minor league career. Talk about the game right here.
