Tigers at Nationals discussion thread: Game 33

(Jonathan Newton/The Washington Post)

Jordan Zimmermann (5-1, 1.64 ERA), one of the National League’s best pitchers, takes the mound on Wednesday against the Tigers, the best offense in baseball. It is a matchup of preseason World Series favorites. He will be opposed by Anibal Sanchez (3-2, 1.82 ERA), off to a great start himself. The Nationals called the game on Tuesday because of inclement weather and a forecast that called for more. Wednesday night hasn’t been promising either. The lineups are here. Talk about the game here, as always.

UPDATE, 6:44 p.m.: The tarp is still on the field as rain is falling. No players have come out onto the field to warm up, nor have any pitchers. There have been no announcements yet but this game will not start on time.

UPDATE, 6:54 p.m.: The Nationals announced that the start of the game is officially delayed. No new time start time was given and that, quite obviously, is because it’s still raining.

UPDATE, 7:23 p.m.: The Nationals announced a new start time of 8 p.m. The grounds crew is removing the tarp from the field now.
