Anthony Rendon is back in the Nationals lineup and hitting second for the first time season, a spot Manager Davey Johnson said he had thought about hitting Rendon but wanted to keep him lower in the lineup. Rendon is hitting .370 (10 for 27) with four doubles and four RBI in his second call-up.

Chris Marrero gets a start at designated hitter against left-handed starter Scott Kazmir (3-4, 5.33 ERA). The Nationals hitting a major league worst .209 against left-handed pitching this season.

An interesting stat: Jordan Zimmermann has taken the mound five times following a Nationals loss this season and they’ve won all five of those game. He is 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA in 39 2/3 innings with 31 strikeouts in those starts.
