Nationals center fielder Denard Span returned to the Nationals’ lineup tonight after groin tightness sidelined him Friday. Span had been considered day-to-day. He arrived at Marlins Park early today for treatment, and a after a workout he determined he could play. Span will put his 17-game hitting streak on the line.

The Nationals’ starter tonight, fittingly, is someone with more at stake for next season than this one. After an impressive run of middle relief, Tanner Roark will try to stake a claim to compete for a rotation spot next spring.
