Despite dealing with hamstring tightness in recent days, Ian Desmond will play also play the second game of Tuesday’s doubleheader. Manager Davey Johnson said after the first game, a 6-5 come-from-behind walkoff win, that he would check on Desmond before putting his name in the lineup. Asked about his hamstring, Desmond said: “Better than Davey’s.” Would he play? “If Davey puts me in the lineup.”

Wilson Ramos will rest in the second game and Jhonatan Solano will start behind the plate. This will snap Ramos’ streak of consecutive games caught at 24. Solano is the first Nationals catcher not named Wilson Ramos to start a game since Kurt Suzuki started on Aug. 21.
